Online Calendar Manager
Social Networking Coordinator
Social Networking Coordinator
We’re seeking a web- and tech-savvy volunteer to help us with our online social networking, using tools like Myspace, Second Life and Facebook.
This is a fun, flexible opportunity that can be tailored to your specific interests and availability. You can work in our beautiful Pioneer Square office or from anywhere with reliable internet access.
Possible responsibilities might include:
* Researching emerging social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook for recommendations on our organizational profile placement
* Designing and updating our profiles on designated social networking websites
* Developing our Second Life profile and strategy
* Networking with like-minded nonprofit organizations and individuals by leaving comments, sending messages and inviting them to visit our profile and website
* Encouraging community participation in response to blog entries, videos, photographs, volunteer opportunities and newsletters on our profile
* Moderating our profile by deleting spam and unrelated comments
Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience with social networking tools like Myspace and Facebook is highly recommended
* Experience with community oriented websites like Flickr and Idealist.org is desirable
* An affinity for Northwest public lands and the environment is a plus!

Internship - Online Calendar Manager
We're seeking an energetic, dedicated intern to manage our online event calendar. This is a great opportunity for someone planning a career in PR, advertising, nonprofit development, and/or event planning.
We passionately believe that public lands are places of education, recreation, and inspiration for everyone. To help others discover these wonderful places, we have developed a comprehensive online calendar that lists the many events, performances, lectures, displays, and other special occasions happening at public lands all around the Northwest.
Length of internship: 3-4 months (flexible)
Start date: May 1st – May 15th (flexible)
Hours per week: between 8 and 20, depending on your availability/interest
Compensation: A transportation and lunch stipend is included.
Position Description:
The Online Calendar Manager will manage all aspects of our event calendar. Responsibilities might include:
* Taking entrepreneurial ownership of the calendar in pursuit of making it a truly comprehensive, one-stop-shop for anyone interested in finding out about events at Northwest public lands.
* Working with our public land agency partners (via email, phone, and web) to find out what events, classes, and other public activities are coming up at their parks and forests.
* Writing descriptive copy for each upcoming event and posting to the calendar in a consistent format.
* Manipulating HTML within postings to add extra functionality to the calendar.
* Digitally editing event photos as necessary.
Qualifications:
* Must be a high school graduate
* Strong interest in marketing, copywriting, advertising, social outreach, or nonprofit development highly desirable
* Passion for Northwest history and nature highly desirable
* Knowledge of basic HTML and digital photo editing a plus
* An interest in community events, public lands, and volunteerism a plus
